On the Mongolian steppes, Nynke decides to dedicate her performance art to the mutual respect between people and their environment. During the making of Plant, she realises that she wants to take a stand in ways that, paradoxically, make her sing more softly, use fewer words, and do less. The album and the theatre performance are about a process of transformation, about changes within yourself. Do we dare to leave our well-trodden paths, get out of our ruts and make room for silence? Do we dare to not know?

To not get lost in the future, you must know your past, right?

Together with composer/musician Sytze Pruiksma, Nynke develops the music for Plant and the concept of the performance. All the lyrics are her own. Video artist Douwe Dijkstra, with whom Nynke collaborated on the short film One of Us in 2018, creates a cinematic decor. Dancer Dunja Jocic, who also performed in One of Us, drifts through the video images. Ascon de Nijs is the designer of the stage imagery and Dieuweke van Reij is the costume designer. Writer/director Koos Terpstra is in charge of final directing, having taken over from Guy Weizman, artistic leader of NNT/Club Guy & Roni, who supervised the first phase of the creative process. The technical team consists of Bo Bruijs (sound), Patrick Kramer (lighting) and Remko Smids (video operator).
