Comedian and children’s book writer Jochem Myjer is convinced that, no matter how far mankind goes off the road, nature will always find a balance again eventually. Lex and I talked with Jochem in the wildlife area De Slufter on the island of Texel, where Jochem used to come as a child to catch shrimp and go for nightly walks. His love for this endlessly changing landscape has come to play an important role in his life: “Nature used to spark my interest; today it is the source of all my wisdom, my lessons, my peace, all the things I want to learn and need to learn. And the greatest lesson is hope. It is winter now and the world looks barren, but we all know that in a few months’ time, everything will be in full bloom again."
